The iSchool at Pitt welcomes Leona Mitchell to Faculty

The iSchool  at Pitt is pleased to welcome its newest faculty member, Mrs. Leona Mitchell. Leona joins us as a Visiting Professor of Practice, bringing with her 30+ years of business, entrepreneurial, technical, sales, and leadership expertise. Leona is eager to share her real-world experience with students through the classes she will teach on management and leadership in the information professions.

Leona's exciting career began in 1982 at IBM in Pittsburgh. During her IBM tenure, she held various roles in Systems Engineering,  Sales Management, Project Management, Marketing, Communications, Channel Management and  Sales Transformation.  In 2010, she took on the role of World Wide Project Executive for Sales Eminence, where she led IBM's global transformation efforts focused on building world class sales talent,  advancing the pipeline of leaders, and strengthening the culture of performance. She also led several strategic IBM transformational changes in sales coverage and operational infrastructure. In recognition of her efforts, she was the recipient of CRN's "2014 Women of the Channel Award" recognizing the top 50 female IT channel executives.

We are proud to note that this accomplished former IBM Executive is also a University of Pittsburgh iSchool alumna (MSIS). Leona has served as a guest lecturer for the University of Pittsburgh, as a member of the School of Information Sciences Board of Visitors, and as an Industry Advisory Council member. Welcome home, Leona!
