SIS Student Expo

Poster Competition

November 8,  2006
William Pitt Union, University of Pittsburgh

Along with the many activities offered as part of i-fest.pitt.edu, SIS invites you to participate in The SIS Student Expo

This Poster/Demonstration Competition will provide an excellent forum for SIS students to present their work in an informal and interactive setting.  Completed work as well as speculative and late-breaking results in all research areas — Information Science, Library & Information Science, and Telecommunications — are welcome. Although a faculty member may be included in the author list, the research work should be primarily conducted by students.  A standard template and printing instructions for posters will be provided.

The Expo has two tracks: PhD posters and non-PhD posters. Each track has a faculty committee assigned to evaluate the posters.  First Prize in each track will be the Canon PowerShot Digital camera, with 7.1 mega pixels and image stabilization.  Other prizes will also be awarded to second and third place winners.

Registration and Submission:  In order to participate in the SIS Student Expo, you should first register your poster/demo online by October 24, 2006. Information required for registration includes presentation title, author contact information, degree program, Expo track, and 200-word abstract.  All accepted posters should be submitted online before October 24. The authors of the accepted presentations are required to participate in the SIS Student Expo (Wednesday, November 8).
